UNT, classified in the Carnegie Classification as a Doctoral University: Highest Research Activity (R1), is a major research university with rapidly growing engineering research and educational programs. As the nation’s 24th largest public university and the largest, most comprehensive in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, UNT is dedicated to providing an excellent educational experience to its almost 47,000 students through 114 bachelor’s, 97 master’s, and 39 doctoral degree programs in its 12 colleges and schools. UNT recently launched the Advanced Air Mobility Test facility, which stands 85 feet tall, 120 feet long, and 300 feet wide, accommodating the flight of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This facility enables users to analyze UAV technology, assess how specific maneuvers affect performance, explore safety measures such as collision avoidance, and test communication between UAVs and stationary receivers on the ground or with autonomous ground vehicles.
