There have been many reports in the last months about the many ways that drones are helping to support the global community and curb the spread of COVID-19. The adoption of drone technology to help with Coronavirus has spread from China, to Spain and France and beyond. With all of these efforts emerging globally, various companies are stepping up to lend a hand to support those who are working to address the pandemic.
Flock drone insurance, for example, is dedicating £10,000 of free insurance to organizations using drones to combat coronavirus and the issues it is causing. They have also extended their office hours and launched an emergency after-hours hotline to support customers around the clock, as well as extended the ability for customers who have been financially impacted by the Coronavirus to freeze their policies for free. And Flock isn’t the only company to be offering access and services to the industry, both ESRI and HxGN are offering some of their services for free in support of those who are aiding in the COVID-19 response.
The widespread efforts of emergency response drone pilots and organizations require a lot of expensive resources that can take its toll on an already hurting economy. By providing financial support for insurance as well as free access to high-quality aerial imagery and GIS data, emergency response pilots have one less cost to worry about.
