Hitec Commercial Solutions, the world leader in servo actuator engineering and manufacturing, launched a new brushless servo, the DBX961WP. This servo stands out against others with its axial bracket mount which allows it to move back and forth, unlike a traditional rotary mount.

The DBX961WP servo is capable of changing the angles of propellers on UAVs, allowing it to move between VTOL and CTOL. For a drone that was originally fixed wing, the integration of the DBX961WP means it can now have variable wing positions, making the drone more suitable for a wide range of missions and adjusting to changing wind patterns with ease. Other advantages of a brushless servo model include better speed control, torque, and no wearable brushes that require maintenance.

“We called out the advancement potential in UAS, robotics, and animatronics technologies but the new opportunities it might open up really are distinct,” said Shawn Spiker, Sales Director at Hitec. “The DBX961WP allows for more direct physical design of brackets and tilt-rotor function for UAS. In animatronics, it significantly expands the range and complexity of joint movements. So it really depends on what you need to do.”

Like any other servo, the new model works with any system that has PWM signals. While the DBX961WP is physically different from traditional rotary models, it uses the same control protocols as previous models, making it simple for end users to adapt into new technologies.

Hitec is committed to non-Chinese global manufacturing, ensuring that no system parts that transmit sensitive data are made in China.

As a manufacturing and engineering company with over 50 years of experience, Hitec’s servos are trusted components for all kinds of machines, UAVs and beyond.

“Hitec designs, engineers, manufactures, tests and supports servos entirely inhouse, ensuring quality and control over the product,” Spiker told Commercial UAV News. “We're also one of the few companies that anybody can call and we'll answer their questions. It’s common that our engineers talk directly to the customers and get them the technical help they need. That’s what sets Hitec apart.”
