Showcased for the first time at XPONENTIAL, the Osprey is a new survey-grade, enterprise drone from Skyfish. Small enough to fit in a backpack, the size and power of the new drone are designed to be a differentiator, opening up brand new opportunities for operators across enterprise organizations.
Made in the USA, the drone was built for infrastructure inspection as well as Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). The new Sony LR1 61-megapixel camera supports these inspection and photogrammetry applications, which are further augmented thanks to interchangeable e-mount precision lenses and remote operation capabilities. NextVision’s Raptor supports the ISR applications, featuring an X80 EO zoom (X40 + X2 digital), as well as day, low-light, and night-time capabilities ranging from Near-Infrared (NIR) to Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) imaging.
Weighting only 14 lbs, but featuring a flight time of up to 60 minutes, the small but powerful drone is positioned to scale. Those capabilities were highlighted as something that made the Osprey different from the many other options and products that were on display at XPONENTIAL.
“If you look at what you’re getting with the LR1 and a flight time of 60 minutes, there’s just no one else that has a similar capacity,” Skyfish CEO Dr. Orest Pilskalns told Commercial UAV News. “Being able to provide this kind of capability at this size is really changing the drone space.”
