European audiences got a look at the UX11 from DELAIR at INTERGEO this year, where they were able to get a better sense of the product that is designed to be easy-to-use and also stay in the air longer than other models. This 3rd generation drone benefits from the experience the company has gained from previous generations and also combines the expertise of DELAIR and Trimble on account of DELAIR's acquisition of Gatewing last year. The drone will be on prominent display at the Commercial UAV Expo, and is well suited to be adapted to the US market.
The UX11’s groundbreaking communications system includes a proprietary line of sight radio with up to 3 km range and 3G/4G connectivity between the ground control station and the UAV using a worldwide machine-to-machine pre-paid plan in partnership with Telefonica. Building on DELAIR’s experience with beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations since 2012, this next-generation communications system makes the UX11 ready for BVLOS flights with unlimited range and adds a new level of safety in the communications link. The system is more capable than any small fixed-wing mapping drone in its class with the best coverage and resolution specifications for flights at 122 m (400 ft) altitude above ground level.Michael de Lagarde, DELAIR’s CEO, mentioned that the UX11 is the ultimate solution for geospatial professionals that demand large-area mapping with centimeter-level precision. The platform is nonetheless designed to address a range of commercial applications and verticals. It can create 2D and 3D models, taking measurements and making annotations for sharing across teams, as well as running advanced data analytics such as change detection. The geospatial market will benefit from the ability to generate elevation profiles, contour lines, slope qualifications and volumetric estimates with high accuracy and resolution using Real Time Kinematic (RTK) data and ground control points. To learn more about the UX11, click here.
